The last 1 week I was in the Mumbai and this is my first trip to the City of Dreams. What did I say about this place? It’s just wow! I never here been before and seen only in the movies. But in reality, it’s more beautiful. The buzzing roads, street hookers, and the live night make the city more elegant and impressive. If I say Mumbai is a colorful city because of its culture and people of different communities are residing in and outskirts of the City, then its hundred percentile true. People with different cultures and traditions bring with them their iconic yummy foods recipes in the street of the Mumbai to the premium restaurants.
Apart from visiting tourists place and hubs in Mumbai, I taste out the various food dishes and items which satisfy my taste buds. I know many of our readers are also keen to know about such mouth-watering serving dishes. Therefore, for all foodies or food lovers I back together with some of the savory dishes and snack items which I recommend all to try before leaving the Mumbai.
Here is the quick list of some appetizing foods in Mumbai for you:
Vada Pav
The first thing that I tried in the street of the Mumbai is Vada Pav, this spicy and crispy combination of Vada and Pav will spice-up your taste buds and you can’t stop yourself for next one. The spicy, stuffed potato with spices fried before sandwiched in the Pav and served with the chutney. I heard about Vada Pav in the Bollywood movies and that’s why I searched for it first. It’s a delight food and unforgettable for me. It’s easily available at street stalls in the city, which is cheap in price but rich in taste.
Dosas
Dosas are familiar to everyone I think? I know you are thinking what is new here? All right, guys dosas served here in the Mumbai are in different varieties and recipes. If I talking about myself I know only one kind of dosa which I was eating from my childhood that’s simple dosa stuffed with vegetable gravy. In Mumbai, there is wide variations are available in the dosas like masala dosas, Mysore masala dosas, chicken dosas, masala dosas, and even more. This savory twist that kicked by the city will surely enrich your experienced for dosas. You must try any one of the dosas at Khau Gallis in the outskirts of the city.
Pav Bhaji
I was asking locals for the famous food item of Mumbai and what I got to hear? Sir must have Pav Bhaji! I switched to a nearby restaurant near the Marine Drive and order for one plate Pav Bhaji to taste first. Within 10 min the order was placed on my table, a plate with one side full of spicy vegetable curry, along with partially fried pav served with some salad and chutney. I can’t stop myself to have the first bite of this yummy dish. It’s so delicious and impressive that I ate 3 plates which further out my tummy. It’s the most well-known dish of the Mumbai and said to be World famous, you can have it any corner of the city at street stalls or restaurants.
Pani-Puri
Here it comes the most loved food item to refresh the taste buds is Pani-Puri, which is also known as Gol-Gappe in India. This mouth-watering food snack is served across in India with a variety of flavors and Mumbai’s Pani-puri is known for its own unique flavor. We all are having this Gol-Gappe from an early age and never missed the opportunity whenever we found a stall nearby us. I also tried this to taste the spiced flavored water served in the puri along with stuffed boiled potato and sprouts. Puri is made up of wheat generally, which I suggest to have it to make some rememberable moments. You can try it at the nearest Chaat Wale Bhaiyaa.
Bhel-Puri
After Pani-Puri, here it’s turn for Bhel-Puri, the deliciously crispy, crunchy, and spiced-up with Indian masala’s & chutney. Bhel-puri is the most famous easily available food items in Mumbai, which is enough to refresh-up your mood. I especially ordered for tikka( means spicy) to Bhaiyya which was ultimately mouth-watering. It takes hardly 5 minutes, and the delicious bhel-puri served to you. I remember that time I was with my friends on the Juhu Beach where a number of bhel-puri stalls are available.
Frankie
Another street food that I loved the most is Frankie, which is widely eaten by the locals and tourists in the city. (From the locals, I heard that Frankie was first served by the vendor in the Old Bombay during the 20th century, which was appreciated by the people and spread in other regions too). It’s served with the vegetables diced and stuffed in the wrap of flour along with the chutney. It’s available for both vegans and non-vegans, just order as per your taste. It’s available in restaurants and even at street outlets too.
These are some of the best food items which I have in Mumbai and would like to highlight more foods dishes like Idli, Kebab, Pakora, Falooda, and Kulfi. I pinned down my personal experience about Mumbai food items; you can also share other dishes which you think are savory for foodies. Share your feedback in the comment box.
