Khardung La Weather & Best Time to Visit
The best months to visit the Khardung La pass are April to June and September to October. The route is less dangerous during the summer because the roads are dry. The sun is shining brightly, and the temperature is holding steady at 21 degrees Celsius. However, nights can be cold when the temperature drops below 7 degrees Celsius. Khardung La pass is inaccessible due to constant rain and heavy rainfall from July to August and November to February. During these months, the pass is frequently closed.
How to Reach Khardung La ?
Leh, the nearest town to Khardung La, is accessible by road from Manali and Srinagar. There are also direct flights between Leh and New Delhi. After arriving in Leh, you can take one of the daily buses that run between Leh and Nubra Valley via the Khardung La pass. You can also hire a taxi with an experienced driver or drive yourself. Road Condition
The road is in good condition for about 25 kilometres until you reach South Pullu on your way to the Khardung La pass. From South Pullu to Khardung La, you will encounter bad patches and broken roads. The route condition deteriorates for about 14 kilometres due to slush and water streams caused by melting snow.
